Jonas Melin and Olof Norrman met at the Textile University and decided after the studies to start up a denim repair shop in 2014. With one sewing machine, a corner of a vintage shop in Majorna, Göteborg became the first stepping-stone.
In 2016 the idea of a denim store offering the very best denim brands in the world took shape and that fall, when Erik Davis joined, a store front was found and Göteborg Manufaktur opened the doors for the first time.
In May 2018 the opportunity came to move to the current address at Tredje Långgatan and Göteborg Manufaktur became a full time store and a full time passion project. Located right on the edge of Haga, in a late 19th century building, Göteborg Manufaktur offers high quality goods and garments with the main focus on denim.
By supplying a wide selection of Japanese denim, the best denim can be found here locally and also on a worldwide stage. Manufaktur supplies a full wardrobe with anything from underwear to coats and gloves. The style can best be described, as workwear heritage with a modern take were the focus lays on quality and material while keeping a classic look.
Göteborg Manufaktur take pride in manufacturing were all the garments on offer are produced in a fair way, using fair materials and were everyone involved gets a fair pay.
Denim repair is still done in house and the denim products bought at location of through the website gets free repairs. Thru the Worn Not Wasted site, second hand garments can be sold and bought trough commission. Göteborg Manufaktur offers a full circular model.
