Where it’s made: Made in Japan
What it’s made from: 100% cotton, 13 oz loopwheel sweatshirt fabric
Fit description: Classic mid-century fit with a relatively short, boxy body
The Buzz Rickson’s Loopwheeled Plain Sweatshirt is based on the simple athletic and military training sweatshirts that became widespread in America during the mid-20th century. Made in Japan from a substantial 13 oz cotton sweatshirt fabric, it has the dense but remarkably soft hand associated with traditional loopwheel knitting.
The fabric is knitted slowly on vintage tubular loopwheel machines, using uneven tension to create a soft, naturally flexible fabric. The body is knitted as a tube without side seams, allowing the sweatshirt to retain the straightforward construction and feel of its vintage counterparts.
Construction is equally traditional, with four-needle flat-seam stitching, set-in sleeves, ribbed cuffs and waistband and a single V-shaped ribbed gusset at the neck. The relatively short, boxy proportions give it the characteristic silhouette of vintage American sweatshirts.
Olof is 185 cm / 80 kg and wears size Large.
