The Athletic Champs Pure Wool Blanket is a very special collaboration between Indigofera and Göteborg Manufaktur, created as part of our 10-year anniversary. For us, making one of Indigofera’s Norwegian wool blankets with our own name on it has been a dream for a very long time. Indigofera was there when we were just a couple of young guns starting Göteborg Manufaktur, and without them there probably wouldn’t be a Göteborg Manufaktur as you know it today.

The artwork starts with the original Göteborg Manufaktur tiger, designed by Joel Albertsson, which has been transformed by Mikael Forsström into a design inspired by old matchbox labels. Vintage matchboxes and their bold, often slightly strange graphics have always been a big source of inspiration for us. The design features ten stars representing our ten years, while a specially made woven label carries the matchbox theme into one final detail.

The blanket is woven in Norway from 100% pure Norwegian wool and measures a generous 2 × 1.5 metres, following the same format as Indigofera’s long-running blanket collection. These blankets are produced by Røros Tweed, whose textile-making history in Røros dates back to 1939. 

Produced in a very limited edition, the Athletic Champs blanket is made to be used. Take it with you on adventures, keep it on the sofa or bed for cold evenings, or hang it on the wall as a textile piece. These blankets are made to last, and we hope this one will still be around long after our next ten years.
