The Heimat Jailhouse U Boat Hat takes inspiration from traditional US Navy watch caps, originally worn by sailors to protect against wind and cold weather. The contrasting colours also draw on vintage sailing crews and motorsport teams, where distinctive stripes and colours helped identify different teams.

Knitted in Germany from substantial virgin wool, the hat has a dense, textured feel that provides excellent warmth and insulation. The wool retains its natural oils, giving it moisture-resistant and self-cleaning properties. The combination of deep navy Ink, off-white Seashell and bright Safety Red creates a distinctive striped design.

The double-folded cuff allows the hat to be worn shorter above the ears or pulled down for additional coverage. The knit feels relatively snug when new but gradually softens and adapts to the shape of the head with wear.
