The Iron Heart IH-888S-21 combines the brand’s signature 21 oz selvedge denim with a comfortable, relaxed tapered silhouette. The 888 cut features a higher rise and generous room around the hips and thighs, gradually narrowing from the knee to the leg opening. This makes it a good choice for those who want the comfort of a roomier pair of jeans without a wide leg opening.
The denim is Iron Heart’s original 21 oz fabric, woven in Japan using a double-twisted weft yarn and relatively low tension. Despite its substantial weight, this construction gives the fabric a surprisingly supple feel, allowing it to soften and mould to the wearer’s body over time. The indigo rope-dyed warp and white weft create the foundation for distinctive fading through regular wear and washing.
Construction details include a four-button fly, hidden copper rivets on the back pockets, reinforced belt loops, heavy cotton pocket bags and a vegetable-tanned leather patch. The jeans are finished with traditional selvedge detailing along the outseam, coin pocket and fly.
The denim is both sanforized and one-washed, meaning virtually all shrinkage has already been removed. The waist can be expected to stretch approximately one inch with wear.
