The Yatsu-Giku Shippō Charm – Kuro (Black) from Kobashi Studio embodies the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship in a contemporary form. Featuring the eight-petal chrysanthemum crest (Yatsu-giku), it is carefully handcrafted using the intricate “Sukashi” openwork technique—a revered metalworking method in Japan.

Each charm is cast in sterling silver (925) by a family-run metal workshop in Tokyo, based on a master mould designed by Junichi Kobashi and finished with a subtle, vintage-style patina. The reverse side bears the Kobashi name engraved in Japanese script.

At its centre lies Shippō-yaki enamel, a centuries-old glass enamelling technique that involves firing enamel onto silver at approximately 800°C for a lustrous finish. The Kuro (Black) hue symbolises purity, depth, and quiet strength—values deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics.

A piece that unites heritage, artistry, and refinement, presented in a Japanese pig suede pouch.
