The Sunray Sportswear Makaha Short Sleeve T-Shirt is inspired by classic American sportswear from the 1950s. Made from substantial 300gsm Japanese cotton jersey, it has a soft yet structured feel, with enough weight to give the T-shirt a distinctive silhouette. This version comes in Shark, a rich, muted purple shade.
The fabric is knitted in Japan on traditional loopwheel machines, which operate slowly and with very little tension on the yarn. This produces a soft, dense jersey with natural stretch and a tubular construction without side seams. The fabric gradually softens with wear and washing while retaining its shape.
The Makaha features a slightly boxy body, square-cut sleeves and Sunray's reinforced ribbed neckline, designed to resist stretching. The proportions are based on vintage athletic T-shirts, offering a comfortable fit without being excessively oversized.
