Where it’s made: Made in Japan
What it’s made from: Pre-washed 13.5 oz Selvedge Denim, 100% Zimbabwe Cotton
Fit description: Regular fit with slightly longer body and slimmer proportions than a true vintage Type 2
TCB’s 50s Denim Jacket is their reinterpretation of the iconic Type 2 denim jacket—built with respect for heritage but tailored for the modern wearer. Woven from long-staple Zimbabwe cotton on vintage shuttle looms, the 13.5 oz selvedge denim has been rinsed once to remove shrinkage and soften the fabric, while preserving its rugged texture and fade potential.
The silhouette is slightly refined, offering a longer body and a narrower cut across the shoulders and arms compared to the boxier original. Classic pleated front, dual chest pockets, and exposed copper rivets complete the vintage-inspired construction, along with a selvedge line running down the inner placket—a quiet nod to its meticulous make.
Like all TCB garments, this jacket is cut and sewn in-house at their Kojima factory, using vintage sewing machines and time-honoured techniques. The use of rope-dyed indigo ensures deep contrast fades over time, developing character with every wear.
Updated version that features an indigo dyed blur tab instead of a red one.
