A rare summer release from TCB—known more for heavyweight denim and historical reproductions—these Painter Shorts offer a breath of fresh air. Modelled after 1950s store-brand workwear (think J.C. Penney, Sears, Montgomery Ward), the cut and detailing echo vintage painter trousers from mid-century America.
The 7.5 oz denim is a standout: lightweight, with a greenish indigo hue that nods to the sulphur-mixed indigo dyes used in vintage budget denim. Ironically, reproducing this now takes more effort and cost—but the results speak for themselves.
Key details include:
– Gripper Zipper from Scovill, used in early Lee and Levi’s zip-fly jeans
– UFO Rivets typical of 1940s–50s American workwear
– Snap buttons with two prongs, a vintage spec rarely seen today
These are shorts made the TCB way—historically accurate, lovingly sewn, and easy to wear all summer long.
