Where it’s made: Made in Japan by the TCB crew
What it’s made from: 100% cotton, 10 oz neppy denim with grey-dyed warps
Fit description: Based on a 1940s deck jacket, modified for everyday wear—true-to-vintage fit with updated silhouette
This standout piece from TCB is a faithful reproduction of a 1940s U.S. Navy deck jacket—reimagined for daily wear. Built in Kojima by the same crew behind all of TCB’s garments, it blends original military construction with a softer fit, giving it the best of both worlds: ruggedness and wearability.
Cut from 10 oz neppy denim woven on vintage shuttle looms, the surface is full of character, with visible slubs and uneven texture. The warp yarns are pre-dyed grey, so when the fabric fades, it won’t reveal white—but a ghostly, dusty tone that gives the jacket an entirely different ageing personality.
Pockets are double-stitched for durability, sewn with cotton threads for that true workwear feeling. The custom urea resin buttons are made exclusively for TCB and will age and matte beautifully over time. A hand-stencilled interior detail adds one last nod to naval tradition.
As with many TCB pieces, you won’t find the selvedge edge here—not because they don’t have it, but because the original didn’t. And that kind of detail-first honesty is exactly what TCB is known for.
